Kim Costanza and I along with our team (Pete, Angelo & David) had a blessed week in San Pedro with 85 boys from the Sugar Cane villages. Our Del Rey Pastors (See www.delreyministries.org) were with us serving as well, having chosen the boys in two groups ranging in age from 8-17 from their respective villages. Our good brothers on the FCA Dominican staff were great leaders throughout the week being gifted with using sports as a platform for building relationships and sharing Christ. The boys loved the energetic worship times were led by Pastor Josue and his son Misael. Kim, Leo, David Zamora, and FCA’s Miguel led the chapel devotions around the theme from Galatians 6:7-10, “A man reaps what he sows.” The seed of Adam and the seed of Christ were discussed and contrasted by the type of harvest we reap from them. “If we sow to the flesh we will reap from the flesh destruction. If we sow to the Spirit we shall reap from the Spirit eternal life.” The messages were lively and interactive times.

Our gardening project with each group in the villages gave the boys a powerful picture of how the preparation of the soil is done and why it’s so important. The Parable of the Sower & The Seed shared by David really supported this experience. They learned about how seeds always reproduce in kind. They also each got to plant some seeds and water them. “As in Adam all die so in Christ all shall be made alive.” 1 Corinthians 15:22

Our movie and ice cream night where we watched “Risen” was a big hit with the boys and pastors as were the Del Rey shorts they each received. The meals prepared by Rosa were outstanding and greatly appreciated by the boys. We took both groups on their final afternoon to the beach near Juan Dolio. The boys didn’t want to get out of the water! Our final morning chapel time was devoted to praying a blessing over each boy individually.

Special thanks to Daniel and Elizabeth Kim for hosting us at their C & MA facility in San Pedro. They were great servants to us all week.

Special thanks as well to our sponsors whose generosity covered our entire budget for the camp. They are our good brothers from Sewickley Presbyterian Church along with the Naren Gursahaney Family.
