Locking Arms Men – Winter 2020 Retreat Summary and Itinerary
Welcome men to the Locking Arms Men Retreat at Ligonier Camp. We are excited to share this time with you in worship to our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. We have a packed agenda, but we want to allow for the Holy Spirit to lead us. If you have not yet done so please fill out the release forms provided by Ligonier camp and return those to Bob McGowan or Rich Ralston. Also, please read the COVID Policy for Ligonier Camp at the bottom of p. 2.
There will be an opportunity for baptism offered on Saturday evening after we have communion. Please let one of us know if you are led to be baptized this weekend. If you would prefer to have someone else baptize you, please also let us know.
Theme: Worship God! Make Disciples! Any questions?
Verse: “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” (Romans 12-1 ESV)
We are called to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy (set-apart) and acceptable (well pleasing to God), this is our spiritual worship. This is a call to obedience, as Romans 6:13 says “Do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments of Righteousness.” Not religious man-made rules, but God’s divine design or pattern for our life. It is about being obedient to God and choosing to serve him and not the world.
Part of that spiritual worship is praising him with song, from our hearts. That praise flows from our hearts as adoration for who God is, his loving mercies, for us, even though we are sinners. Another part of that obedience is to “follow” Jesus. When Jesus calls his disciples, the call to “follow me” means to join Jesus, to spend time, to develop the highest allegiance for him and to learn from him as an apprentice. As we follow we must go and make disciples of all nations (people groups) (Matthew 28:18-20).
